Enterprise Medical Data Dictionary (under development)
– Enterprise Medical Data Dictionary is a specialized database that brings medical language down to medical concepts that can be expressed by standardized terminologies. It is a formal conceptual description of the medical world (also called an ontology) and as such is understandable by a computer. The medical concepts, themselves language independent, are linked to about 3,000,000 terms in various languages (English, Spanish, French, Turkish, etc.). It makes it possible to do cross-mappings from one classification system to another (i.e. ICD-9-CM, ICD-10, SNOMED, Read, MedDRA, etc.), do searches in one language and retrieve information in another language, improve indexing of medical documents based on their content, etc.
